Programs that Foster a Sense of Wonder
Sharing nature with the very young is our passion at Wehr. We believe that young children learn best when they use their senses to experience the world around them and are encouraged to exercise their curiosity and creativity. Our early childhood programs are developmentally appropriate, incorporate literacy, art, and lots of opportunities for outdoor exploration.
I sincerely believe that for the child … it is not half so important to know as to feel. If facts are the seeds that later produce knowledge and wisdom, then the emotions and the impressions of the senses are the fertile soil in which the seeds must grow. The years of early childhood are the time to prepare the soil.

NatureNauts is a fun-filled nature program designed for 4 to 6 year olds and their favorite adult
Like astronauts who explore space, NatureNauts explore the natural world of their own back yard. Each month’s theme is designed to give youngsters a positive introduction to our wonderful natural world. Sessions include stories, games, activities, songs, an outdoor experience, a take home craft, and a keepsake photo. NatureNauts have met wild creatures up close and personal, “hugged a slug”, explored a snow cave, danced with dragonflies, and tapped a maple tree. We look forward to helping you share our wonderful world with your own NatureNaut.
