Walkabout at Wehr: Saturday, May 3, 2008

Walk with us on Saturday May 3. The 5th Annual Walkabout at Wehr will be a great day to trek the trails at Wehr Nature Center ! A day to spend time with family and friends enjoying the beauty of the park while supporting education programs.

Collect pledges to qualify for prizes!

Registration and Pledge Drop-off: 9:00 – 10:00 am  

Opening Ceremonies at 10:00 am  

It will feature a 2.5 mile trail walk through the prairie, along Mallard Lake and in the woods. A shorter mile route is available especially for families with young children. Sturdy strollers are recommended. Participants are welcome to enjoy refreshments, nature activities, and a visit with animals from Wehr's animal room.

An event to benefit children's programming at Wehr Nature Center and Nature in the Parks. It supports programs and fieldtrips for families in your school, at the nature center or in a Milwaukee County Park. Walkabout at Wehr is a unique trail walk at the Wehr Nature Center that will feature a 2.5 mile walk on many Wehr trails and 1 mile woodland walk designed especially for families with young children. 

Participants can stay to enjoy the featured music and activities including refreshments, nature activities, and displays.

The Walkabout at Wehr is on Saturday May 3. The Start is in the amphitheater at the Wehr Nature Center Building . (Map)
Registration is at 9 AM, Opening Ceremonies begins at 10 AM

The Walkabout will feature a 2.5 mile trail walk along Mallard Lake and a 1 mile woodland trail walk especially for families with young children. Heavy strollers are recommended. We walk rain or shine!!

1. Obtain a Walkabout at Wehr Registration form.

2. Fill in all the information requested including a signature.

3. If you are going to solicit pledges, fill in the PLEDGE NAMES & AMOUNT on the pledge form.

4. Return the completed Registration and pledge form to Wehr Nature Center prior to the Walkabout, Saturday, May 3, 2008. Pledge money should be turned in at the same time.

5. On the day of the Walkabout, report to the Registration table to pick up your packet. The Registration table opens at 9:00 and closes promptly at 10:00 am.

6. Attend the Opening Ceremony at 10 am. The Walkabout at Wehr begins!!! Enjoy your walk!!!

Pre-registration is the best way to ensure a T-shirt available in your size. We will provide shirts on the basis of registration date. All walkers will receive goodies in their packet.

Pledge sheets are included in the Walkabout at Wehr Registration form. If you need more sheets, please photocopy the original sheet or you may download additional ones here. 

Prizes will be given to the top individual adult and the top individual youth. 

Yes! This is a great event to bring your families and friends for your mutual enjoyment at the event and to raise funds for a good cause. We welcome and encourage group participation in the Walkabout at Wehr. It is a wonderful opportunity to involve employees in a fun and casual atmosphere outside of the workplace.
